Deep Swamp Canoe Float 1:00pm 4-6-19
Join Reelfoot's experienced naturalist, David Haggard, for a three hour canoe float through seldom explored areas of Reelfoot Lake. Observe old growth cypress forest, a heron rookery and an eagle nest as we leisurely paddle through the cypress swamp. Exciting sights include large fish swimming, ducks taking flight and the occasional snake making an appearance. A variety of bird life such as songbirds, ducks, herons, owls, or an eagle usually shows up to check out the canoeist. This is one of the most unique adventures offered in West Tennessee!
Canoe / Kayak rental: State Park rents canoes / kayak, life jacket, and paddles.
Fees are $14 per person or $7 per person if you have your own canoe or kayak. Bring snack, drink, change of clothes, camera and binoculars in a waterproof, floatable container.
If renting a kayak or canoe tell the person at the visitor’s center (might be Vanessa) 731-253-9652, that they are renting a boat under Patty McLaughlin’s name. 10 seats have been saved under my name
* Float locations may change depending upon wind and water level.

More Information:
Registration on the BCCC web site is required. Cancellation due to weather will be announced on the BCCC web site so if it is raining Saturday, April 6th, check the web!! Do not assume.
Again, the park has 16 canoes and 5 kayaks at $14.00/person. It costs $7.00 to bring your own boat for a guided tour of the deep swamp.
The tour will begin at 1 pm when we follow David in our cars to the put-in. It lasts about 3 hours and then we take David out to dinner and usually eat catfish or burgers. Bring a little extra $ for a tip for Dave. He knows BCCC is good to him and therefore he is good to us. And as you will see he is a great tour guide!
