Three days of paddling on the Current River with the
Flying W Store & Campground
as nightly base.
It is probably easiest to call the store to make reservations. However, you can also reserve online at
HIPCAMP
.
Float Plan:
Friday: Paddle Akers to Pulltite, 10mi.
Saturday: Baptist Camp to Cedar Grove, 8mi.
Sunday: Paddle Cedar Grove to Akers, 8mi.
Shuttles begin at 8:00 AM both days.
The Current River is the most spring-fed of all the Ozark rivers. As a result, the Current may be floated almost anytime of the year, particularly below Welch Spring.
Difficulty Level I. occasionally II. Suitable for all skill levels.

This section of the Current River above Akers Ferry includes :
Welch Springs Hospital Ruins. - The hospital was built in 1913 by C.H. Diehl and once offered healing waters.
Devils Well - A sinkhole cave containing the largest underground lake in Missouri.

This meetup is for Bluff City Canoe Club members and their guests. If you are not a member, we would love to have you join. Membership is just $30 for the year and includes your entire family.
