Happy New year to you guys!

Happy New Year.  It was a bit crunchy around the edge of Hyde Lake this morning, but the water was very still and the sunrise was beautiful.

Also, we saw one of the beavers that have built a lodge on the middle island. It's been mentioned to several staff that the beavers are causing serious damage to the landscaping.  I hope they can be relocated to a more suitable place.

Happy Thanksgiving to you guys. Such a beautiful shot.

Happy Thanksgiving from Hyde Lake.  Based on signs I saw this morning, it looks like concessions are about to be set up in the parking lot at the boat launch.  I'm not sure how that will affect our access.

Barbara and I plan to paddle the sundown at Hyde Lake from 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm today.  After that, perhaps we will also sample the oysters at the Coastal Fish Company, the new restaurant overlooking the lake.

Join us if you can.

We continue to paddle in the early morning,  During the summer, the park seemed to be open in the dark even though the signs say sunrise.  I'm not sure if that will change when we return to standard time.

Pretty unusual cloud cover at sunrise on Oct 19, 2019.

Beautiful photo! I'll get up early enough someday.
Here's a link to the Hyde Lake Boat House.  It provides hours of operation and rental prices for different types of boats.  Please note that the hours are changing during October.

My friend Debora and I padded by starlight the last couple of mornings.  Yesterday was a new moon and the sky was clear.  The sunrise was literally a sunburst.  That's her dog Murphy on the bow of her kayak.

Paul Beebe made a surprise appearance at the paddle this morning.  He agrees that it's a great time to be on the lake.

We plan to be there again  tomorrow morning, Labor Day morning at 6 am 9/2/2019.  Join us if you can.

This morning was exceptionally pretty and a bit more breeze than the forecast, but excellent overall.

Wish I could join.  It's my granddaughter's birthday party day.    Hopefully next time.
Barbara and I plan to paddle sunrise at Hyde Lake this Saturday, August, 31, 2019.  We will arrive around 6 am (Civil Dawn), unload and be on the lake to see the sunrise.  We will only paddle for about 1 - 1 1/2 hours.

Barbara and I paddled the sunrise this morning with two friends.  If you would be interested in joining a sunrise paddle, let me know and I will try to post advance notice.

Kelly, Igor, Barbara and I enjoyed about a 2 hour paddle.  I brought my Old Town Pack canoe for Kelly to try out.  Mine is not for sale, but Kelly might be in the market for one in the future.

Barbara and Kelly passed out several  BCCC business cards to other paddlers on the lake. I need to remember to keep some in my pocket rather than back in the car.

Igor provided instruction to some very young first time paddlers.  There was a good breeze and the kids took turns in a boat with a long tether to an adult upwind on shore.    The tether made it safe and the breeze made it challenging.

Perhaps next time it will be warm enough to paddle the last two hours before sunset.
