The Current River is the most spring-fed of all the Ozark rivers.  As a result, the Current may be floated at almost anytime of the year, particularly below Welch Spring.  Due to the increase in size of the river and the frequency of motor boats below Big Spring, most canoe and kayak trips are made on the sections above Big Spring.

Difficulty: Class 1 - suitable for all skill levels.

Camping

I will be camping at Jason's Place Campground up the hill in the trees beginning Friday night.  There is both shade and electricity. 

The float plan
- Saturday we will put in at Cedar Grove Canoe Access and float 8 milesto Acker's Upper Access. 
- Sunday we will put in at Aker's Upper Access and float 9 1/2 miles to Pulite Canoe Access.  
- Plan on starting the shuttle from Jason's Place Campground around  8:00 am.

Outfitters
If anyone needs a boat or is uncomfortable with doing a group shuttle you can rent a boat and arrange your own shuttle from various outfitters such as

Additional Tips for Paddlers
It's likely to be hot and sunny so bring plenty of water and sunscreen.  Wear clothes suitable for taking a dip in the cool water.

This trip is for Bluff City Canoe Club members and their guests.  If you are not a member, we would love to have you join.  Membership is just $30 for the year and includes your entire family.

The Bluff City Canoe Club is a Paddle America Club affiliated with the American Canoe Association (ACA).  We comply with the safety guidelines of the ACA which can be found here. You will need to wear a PFD during the paddle.

All participants must have completed an ACA Smart Waiver within the past 12 months.
