If you can’t view the pictures on the web pages your security level is too high or certain ActiveX controls probably need to be “enabled” or set for “prompt”.  For Internet Explorer 6.0  The default was set to MEDIUM.  I reset one computer to that setting and it still opened all pages.  I reset it to HIGH and no pictures would show up.  If you get to a screen that shows a “slider” and HIGH, MEDIUM, LOW.  Try MEDIUM and APPLY.

You can reach this screen from TOOLS, INTERNET OPTIONS, SECURITY SETTINGS, when you have the net open.  Or, right click on the Internet Explorer icon on your desktop and follow the above.

For a CUSTOM LEVEL, from the “slider” screen, you can change a number of options. If you chose MEDIUM, you still may wish to go to custom and change some of the items from “ENABLE” to “PROMPT”.  (APPLY when finished)

If you are already running Internet Explorer 6.0 with service pack 2, and it is set for HIGH security, you will get a message that the items can’t be shown because of the security setting. Older versions may not give you any message.

AOL users:

There are a number of sites and forums available to help AOL users.  There appear to be a lot of complaints and a number of solutions.  One example is that you are led to believe that Internet Explorer is your browser when you are actually using an embedded AOL version.  The way the problem was stated indicates that you could follow the above process and nothing would happen since you would be changing a browser you were not using.  Try some of the search engines with questions such as “AOL internet problems”.
