This area is remote so plan ahead for your necessities as the nearest towns are about 100 miles away. It is desert and mountains with average temps. Of 80 to 100 degrees but can occasionally drop to freezing and/or develop sudden high winds. The scenery is beautiful and Hwy. FM170 is a designated national scenic drive.
Plans are for two overnight floats, one on Santa Elena Canyon and one on Boquillas Canyon. It is recommended that you bring your own boats as rentals are costly.
There are wonderful hiking and biking trails. Some may want to go across the border into Boquillas, MX and ride the burros from the river into town (1 mile) which will require your passport.
John and Cathy Edgar are in Lajitas now where they will spend the winter. John has notified me that if anyone wants to bring their mountain bikes down, he will be happy to lead some bike rides on the local trails.
