The Sunsetter float is about 3.3 miles along our beautiful Memphis riverfront.  The trip generally takes about an hour and a half.  Floaters, those that don't paddle, can usually reach the harbor in a hour if they stay in the current and out of the way of the tow boats.  We will start gathering around 6:00pm to run our shuttle. The hope is to be on the river around 7:00. Sunset is at 7:25 with the end of twilight at 7:53.  The float is several days before the full moon with moonrise at 2:49pm.  The moon should be mostly full and above the skyline as we paddle into the harbor.  This can be an awesome sight, if we hit it right.  To top it off, we typically all head to Movie and Pizza in Harbor Town Square afterwards. So come join us and enjoy a sunset on the river.  Click on the map below for directions.

 

In addition to the normal safety gear you will need a 360 degree white light as we will be on the water after sunset. The light can be as simple as taping an opaque white plastic cup to the end of a flashlight, preferably waterproof. Then attaching the light to a stick which is attached to your boat. A headlamp would be a good idea also.  The "end of twilight" as mentioned above means it's dark at the end of the float.   You might want to consider bring some bug spray.  The mosquitoes can be annoying in the harbor.

 

If you are not a member, I will get an email when you register and you will be notified by email of any significant changes.  If you are a member and registered, you will also get an email if the trip is modified significantly or cancelled due to weather or other reasons.  It is always a good idea to check the website for changes before you leave the house, if you are one of the 90% that don't register and just show up.
