Middle Fork, Little Red River, Arkansas April 26, 2003

The Middle Fork of the Little Red River is a four hour drive from Memphis near Fairfield Bay above Greers Ferry Lake in North Central Arkansas. The shuttle will meet in Shirley at the junction of hwy 9 and 16 at 8:00 AM. Canooers are limited to graduates of river training. High clearance vichicles are recommended for the shuttle.

The Middle Fork is a sandstone river similiar to the Big Piney with frequent drops and willows. The river is essentially a private rain dependent river, floatable 6 months of the year. Camping facilities are available at the nearby Van Buren campground on hwy 330 on Greers Ferry Lake. There will be dulcimer festival at the Ozark Folk Center near Mountain View and the 16th annual springfest in Heber Springs.
