Upcoming Training; September 2003:

Fall Training 2003

 

Fall training will be on the Spring River, with camping at Riverside (as of 9-9-03) Campground, near Hardy, Arkansas. Classroom training will be given after the September meeting or at lake training (Patriot Lake on Saturday). Lake training will be Saturday, September 6 at Patriot Lake and then river training will follow the next weekend September 13-14. The deadline for signing up for training is the September meeting! Tandem and solo training will be taught. I am looking for volunteers to help with training. Both safety boats and instructors are needed. The cost for training is $35, which includes book and handouts.

From the Minutes :::::::::::::

The first meeting of the new year was brought to order on Wednesday, January 8 by Sandy Stacks our 2003 President. Sandy introduced the new slate of officers and committee chairpersons. Sandy is still looking for someone to head up the Hospitality Committee. She is looking for two more people - one to assist Bob Colclasure with Membership and one to assist Len Cobb with Publicity. Anyone interested please get with Sandy Stacks.

The Holiday Party was a huge success and fun was had by all ! The food was great and approximately 80 people were in attendance.

Anna Hogan talked about upcoming trips and anyone interested in leading trips to contact her. If you lead a particular trip last and do not plan on leading it this year please call Anna. She is working on a calendar for the year, which will be printed in the newsletter at a later date.

Karen Hopkins is also leading a trip to Petit Jean State Park in Arkansas for hiking and jeep trails, April 4-6. Campsite reservations are available and have to be made direct through Petit Jean Park's office. Sites are about $15 per night with hook-ups.

Ken Kuiken is head of the committee for a memorial for Henry and Helen Hall, founders of the BCCC. After doing some research, a meditation garden at The Church of the River is being landscaped at the corner of the patio by the church building. The garden will show the clubs motto.

Training::::::::

Bob Harris announced that training would be on the Spring River and camping at Spring River Oaks. Lake training will be Saturday, April 5 at Patriot Lake and then training will be the next weekend April 12-13. Deadline for signing up for training is April 2 ! Tandem and solo training will be taught. Bob is looking for volunteers to help with training. April 2 is the classroom training following the meeting. April 5 is Lake Training at Patriot Lake. April 12 and 13 is river training, which will take place on the Spring River. Camping will be at Spring River Oaks Campground. The cost is $35, which includes book and handouts. Dinner from Beach Club BBQ on Saturday night is included in the cost. You must be a member of the BCCC to take training.. Any questions please contact Bob Harris.

We meet each month, except December (when we have our annual Holiday Party) at The Lichterman Nature Center located on 5992 Quince at Lynnfield the first Wednesday of the month at 7 PM. Guests are welcome.
